The cylinder material is a special aluminium alloy with a high content of silicon and titanium, which guarantees outstanding durability even at the highest temperatures. The heat treatment it has had raises hardness and strength to the maximum, guaranteeing that the mechanical specification and the size will stay unaffected at temperatures up to 250 C. The shape of the cylinder is made on NC machines with extremely tight tolerances on size and shape. The inner surface is coated by heat treatment in a nickel die using silicon, achieving outstanding hardness (about 600HVO,1/5) and wear resistance. The inside of the cylinder follows the design of each application it is intended for, separately. The inlet and exhaust ports are designed specifically for racing use. The MALOSSI head guarantees that the heat a racing engine produces is dissipated to the greatest degree because the coolant wraps around its whole surface. Also, because it is not joined to the inner walls, it can easily follow the cylinder's expansion.
